Rewinding Internationalism

19 November 2022 until 30 May 2023

Exhibition

This activity has ended.

In ten separate scenes, more than forty artists, researchers and collectives present a range of perspectives on internationalism. This movement advocates greater cooperation between states and nations.

New work

For this ambitious group exhibition, Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska, susan pui san lok and Didem Pekün have created new work in which the use of video, audio, scripts and sampling form a common thread. The starting point is the nineties of last century. A time in which world relations were changing rapidly as a result of globalization.

New internationalism

In art, some embraced the ‘New Internationalism’, which – from a Western perspective – called for an end to the central focus on Western European and American standpoints. Rewinding Internationalism winds back and forth between the nineties and the present, examining what has become of these developments.
