This accessibility statement applies to the website museum.nl including museumkids.nl and the Museum Card App for IOS and the Museum Card App for Android.

Purpose of website and app

As many people as possible should be able to visit a museum and use the Museum Pass app and the museum.nl website. We strive for accessibility according to the WCAG 2.2, Level AA guidelines. The main tasks of the website are: informing about the museums you can visit with your Museum Pass, getting inspiration for a museum visit and buying a Museum Pass.

How is the website accessible

When providing our online services, we strive for maximum digital accessibility according to the WCAG 2.2 AA standard so that users with various limitations — including visual, auditory, motor and cognitive limitations — can use our service without obstacles. We therefore provide users with clear information about the accessibility of our service. This website was tested in June 2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. This test of a representative sample of pages was carried out by Proper Access, a Dutch research agency in the field of digital accessibility.

Parts of this website are not yet fully accessible. For example:

  • Sometimes the color contrast between text and background is insufficient

  • Some decorative images are not hidden from
    screen readers

  • Sometimes the keyboard focus is not clearly visible

  • Keyboard focus goes outside the mobile menu

How is the Museum Pass app accessible

The Museum Pass app version 1.1.1(40), Android was tested in June 2025 against the WCAG 2.1 AA standard. This test of a representative sample of pages was carried out by Proper Access, a Dutch research agency in the field of digital accessibility.

Parts of this website are not yet fully accessible. For example:

  • Sometimes headers aren't formatted like headlines

  • Sometimes the contrast of text is insufficient

  • Sometimes a menu button is not properly named

  • Sometimes images have no or incorrect alternative text

  • The name of some buttons does not describe the function of the button

What we do to improve accessibility

With our technical and design partners and with the in-house content creators, we work together to make the pages, functionalities and content more accessible. The most important improvements have been planned and will be realized from summer 2025. Further optimizations are planned in 2026.
