For artist Jeroen Erosie, the city is one of the most important sources of inspiration: a blend of coincidence and repetition. In The Eye, the oval patio in the Van Abbemuseum, he works on a living mural.

Lines

From left to right, Erosie fills the wall with shapes that react to each other, telling their own story. At the heart of his work is the line. The act of drawing lines is an open-ended game, an exploration of shapes.

Sketchbooks

Erosie’s free movement within those shapes comes from his background in graffiti, illustration and fine art. He developed this way of art-making organically over the years. A process that he recorded in his many sketchbooks.
