Whilst the Amsterdam Museum is undergoing renovation, visit its two other venues: Huis Willet-Holthuysen and Amsterdam in Motion

The Amsterdam Museum is currently closed for renovation. However, the museum continues to organise events throughout the city and at its two other venues: Huis Willet-Holthuysen and Amsterdam in Motion.

Burgerweeshuis

The Amsterdam Museum’s main site is housed in a magnificent listed building in the city centre on Kalverstraat: the former Burgerweeshuis.

Amsterdam

Since the main site opened at this location in 1975, the Amsterdam Museum has been renowned as a forward-thinking city museum that organises activities and exhibitions on a wide variety of topics for and by the people of Amsterdam. The city and its residents always take centre stage.

Perspective

Historical and contemporary (art) objects and stories are combined and complemented by the creativity and critical perspective of contemporary artists. This makes the museum an important public meeting place in the city centre.
