Dreamed images. Drawings by Johan Huizinga

Until 18 May from 11:00 to 17:00

Exhibition

Johan Huizinga was a natural talent and his drawings show what he saw: a landscape, a city, a historical building, a loyal friend or a beloved dog. Sometimes they are dreamed images or fantasy representations. The exhibition Dreamscapes brings these together.

Previous exhibition

Johan Huizinga (1872-1945) is the most famous cultural historian in the Netherlands. His hundredth birthday in 1972 was the reason for organizing an international conference, and also an exhibition about his life and work in the University Museum Groningen. At that time, not only books, manuscripts and photos were on display, but also eighteen drawings made by Huizinga.

Dreamed images

Just like in 1972, the University Museum Groningen is the ideal place to bring these drawings together, this time in the exhibition Dreamscapes.
