Jugendstil

The center of Valkenburg is home to a chalk limestone building with stone steps at the front. This Jugendstil building from 1900, designed by J.H.C. Kröner, used to be the city hall. Today it houses Museum Valkenburg.

Art and history

In the downstairs rooms, temporary exhibitions display works by famous painters such as Charles Eyck, Hans Truijen and Daan Wildschut. The museum also illustrates the origins of the fortified city of Valkenburg and its surroundings. Upstairs, works by contemporary artists are on display. Their art, be it abstract or spiritual, never loses its edge.
