Cliché

With her incisive and innovative works, she breaks with the cliché of Fryslân as a land of water, air and meadows. The swinging sixties make their definitive entrance into Frisian art.

Mare van der Woude

Mare van der Woude (1936–2022) was a key figure in the Frisian avant-garde of the 1960s. As part of the Haudmare art collective, she worked alongside other artists such as Tjeerd Visser, Boele Bregman and David van Kampen to establish one of the most radical sanctuaries for modern art in the Northern Netherlands, in Duurswoude.
