Museum De Wieger was once the residence of painter and physician Hendrik Wiegersma. Aside from work by Wiegersma and contemporaries such as Charley Toorop and Leo Gestel, the museum also displays contemporary art.

The building that houses Museum De Wieger used to be Hendrik Wiegersma’s (1891-1969) residence, clinic and workshop. The residence offers a view on Hendrik Wiegersma’s life and work. Museum De Wieger also hosts exhibitions that fit in with the museum’s own collection. The workshops house temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists, often from Deurne and its surroundings.

Interwar period

The collection’s main focus is the modern art of the interwar period and contains works by, among others, Hendrik Wiegersma, Jan Sluijters, Leo Gestel, Charley Toorop, Joep Nicolas and Else Berg.
