At Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen (Art Fort at Vijfhuizen), art, heritage and nature come together. At this historic fort, artists immerse you in alternative realities, via a program inspired by science fiction.

Multidisciplinary

The Kunstfort is a place where space, time and image intersect. Through a program inspired by science fiction, artists create alternative realities and question existing systems. The recurring themes include climate and the landscape, border policies and defensive models, technology and ritual, dystopia and apocalypse. These are presented through exhibitions, interventions in the outdoor space, and multidisciplinary exchanges.

Defence Line of Amsterdam

The historic fort at Vijfhuizen was one of the first concrete buildings in the Netherlands, and is a part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, a large-scale defensive system from the 19th century that was never fully engaged.
