Pole dancing as an art form, in clothing by Miu Miu

Until 8 February 2026 from 10 to 18 hours

Exhibition

Pole dancing as an art form, in clothing by Miu Miu. Huis Marseille is the first museum in the world to include Michella Bredahl’s photographs in its collection. The full series is on display in the exhibition.

Miu Miu

After studying photography and film in Denmark, Michella Bredahl spent extended periods in Paris, where she permanently settled in 2020. She became part of the city’s vibrant cultural scene and met the renowned stylist Lotta Volkova. Volkova works for Miu Miu (a fashion brand launched by Prada), and they decided to collaborate on a series of photographs of pole dancers, shot either in their own environments or in a studio in Paris, styled in Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection.

Pole dancing

Bredahl invited friends and other people from her network to model. The portraits are rich with intriguing contrasts: the sometimes overcrowded living rooms stand in stark contrast to the dancers’ graceful poses. The clothing adds another layer: it not only counters the persistent conflation of pole dancing with striptease but also makes the dance physically more challenging, as bare skin is essential for gripping the pole.

The collection’s presentation is part of the exhibition Rooms We Made Safe and includes around sixty works. It will be on view at Huis Marseille until 8 February 2026.
