14 February 2026 until 21 June 2026

Exhibition

This activity has ended.

Tata Ronkholz became known for her appealing series of kiosks (Trinkhallen) and small shops that capture typical moments of urban everyday culture. These were photographed between 1977 and 1985, particularly in neighbourhoods of Cologne and Düsseldorf, in the Ruhr area.

Tata Ronkholz

In 1977 Tata Ronkholz began photographing kiosks (Trinkhallen) and snack bars (Imbissbuden) in Dusseldorf and its nearby cities. Her radius soon expanded to include Cologne, the Rurhr region, and other surrounding areas.

Interplay

As a trained product designer and interior architect with a keen sense for interplay and function, form, surfaces, order and objects, for Tata Ronkholz the kiosks, in all their ordinariness, are individually designed spaces and functional buildings that refer to social needs and economic opportunities.
