The Holy of Holies may be seen at the back of this scale model of a temple. This is the site of the shrine to Horus, the falcon god to whom the temple is dedicated. Priests look after the deity's wellbeing through rituals and offerings - of mummified falcons for example. The Macedonian rulers in Alexandria, who ordered the temple to be built, hope that Horus will in turn take care of Egypt and of the royal house.
