The Allard Pierson Museum shares the collections of the University of Amsterdam with visitors and scholars. The collections range from Egyptian antiquities and medieval manuscripts to atlases by Joan Blaeu and modern graphic design.

A trip through time

The permanent presentation From the Nile to the Amstel takes you on a journey through 10,000 years of cultural history. The journey begins in ancient Egypt and ends in the creative city of Amsterdam. The museum also offers two large exhibitions every year.

Allard Pierson Live

The presentation From the Nile to the Amstel has recently been expanded to include free admission to Allard Pierson Live. Here, you can get to work with archaeological shards or explore the cartography, theater and music collections. Also here is the Espressobar, which offers a great view of the Rokin, one of Amsterdam’s main thoroughfares.
