On April 20th, Fashion for Good Museum will explore the crucial role of representation in the beauty industry through a screening of the documentary The Beauty of Blackness and an insightful conversation with makeup artist Timothy Aarons and fashion activist and journalist Janice Deul.

Black-owned beauty brands

For this event, the museum invited makeup artist and programmer, Timothy Aarons, to curate a programme featuring a screening of the documentary The Beauty of Blackness, directed by Kiana Moore and Tiffany Johnson. The film explores the history of Black cosmetics by following the relaunch of one of the largest, most important Black-owned beauty brands of the 20th century — Fashion Fair.

Janice Deul

Together, fashion activist and journalist Janice Deul and Timothy Aarons, will delve into themes highlighting the powerful connection between beauty, society, and politics. Based on Aaron's experience, we'll reflect on critical issues within the beauty industry, which contribute to less representation of BIPOC voices.

Cultural sustainability

Join us on April 20th for an evening where we explore the significant impact of representation in the beauty industry as a catalyst for cultural sustainability.
