The Zoutmuseum tells the story of a precious mineral most of us use on a daily basis and take for granted: salt. Discover how salt was used in the past and why it is still very important.

The history of salt

In 1886, salt was discovered in the grounds around Twickel Castle. In Delden, near the castle, the Zoutmuseum presents the history of salt production, the uses of salt and the importance of this precious mineral.
