Hiphop & de stad

Wereldwijd speelt hiphop een belangrijke rol in het leefbaarder maken van de stad voor lokale community's. Of het nu gaat om gedeelde herinneringen, kennis en ervaringen, uitingen als blockparty’s en graffiti-tags – hiphop is een belangrijk middel om plekken in de stad te (re)claimen en betekenis te geven.

Betekenisgeving

De tentoonstelling The world is yours! – hiphop maakt de stad biedt reflecties op hoe hiphop als cultuur en lifestyle bijdraagt aan de vorming van zulke betekenisvolle plekken in Rotterdam. Van de winkelstraat Kruiskade tot het Bospolderplein, van blockparty’s tot aan tramhaltes. In deze tentoonstelling delen BANLIEUE, Brand New Guys, Concrete Blossom en Notes hun visie op de rol van hiphop in de eigen stad.
