Have you always wanted to know how people used to live and where they worked? Streekmuseum De Meestoof (Regional Museum De Meestoof) presents an overview of early life and culture on the islands Tholen and Sint Philipsland.

Streekmuseum De Meestoof is located in the former town hall of Sint-Annaland. There are two historic barns located right behind the museum.

The Countryside

The museum provides a glimpse of what country life was like in Tholen and Sint Philipsland in earlier times. In addition to the permanent collection, a temporary exhibition is hosted every year. One of the barns holds a blacksmith’s shop, a wheelwright and a carpenter’s workshop. One of the focal points of the museum is traditional costumes from Tholen with their accompanying accessories. The attic contains an old-fashioned store, a worker’s room from around 1900, the inventory of a family doctor, a display case of religious objects and needlework samplers.
