Admire the 100-year-old steam train, ready for boarding on the platform. When the conductor blows his whistle, the locomotive puffs and hisses into motion. All aboard!

Active museum

Proceed from the platform into the outdoor museum Stoomtrein Katwijk-Leiden (museum of the steam train line between Katwijk and Leiden). Marvel at the antique coaches and steam and diesel locomotives. In the indoor part of the museum, you’ll discover what significance the steam locomotive once had in the Netherlands and how steam engines work. There are many activities to enjoy, and you can even touch the trains! Take your place in the engineer’s seat or try your hand at the scavenger hunt.
