The Stedelijk Museum Almelo exhibits items, clothes, paintings, photographs and videos showing how Almelo developed through time and how its people lived.

The themed exhibition rooms are Water, lasten en lusten (Water: benefits and burdens), Macht en aanzien (Power and honor), Leven van het Land (Living from the land), Almelo industriestad (Industry in Almelo) and Altijd wat te doen (Always something to do). The museum also has an exhibition hall.
