Discover how the Schie River shaped Delft’s industrial development in the exhibition Industry along the Schie at Royal Delft. This exhibition takes you on a journey through time, from the beer industry to the rise of pottery factories, and from the Van Marken factories to TU Delft.

Schie

For centuries, the Schie River has played a crucial role in Delft’s economic and social development. The Industry along the Schie exhibition at Royal Delft, brings together 126 unique objects from ten lending institutions. The oldest artifact, a beer mug from around 1350, represents early industry, while contemporary innovations showcase how the city continues to evolve.

A highlight of the exhibition is the oral history project by Erfgoed Delft, featuring personal stories from former factory workers, offering a human perspective on industrial heritage. In addition, an extensive side program is organized in collaboration with partners and Delft Marketing, including expert lectures, exclusive guided tours of special locations, and walks along industrial heritage sites.

Step into the past and explore the future at Industry along the Schie.
