The Openluchtmuseum Het Hoogeland’s twenty buildings show visitors how people used to live and work in the rural Netherlands of the 19th century. It looks like the residents could be back any time!
Living in the past
Look around the homes of a day laborer, a burgher, a skipper, a vet and the sexton and an old people’s home for women.
Outside the castle are the painter’s studio, the butchery, smithy, printing press, school building and café. All these buildings have been furnished with an eye for detail.
