What species of fish live in Limburg’s brooks, and just how big was Mosasaurus Bèr? This and many other questions are answered in the Natural History Museum of Maastricht, Limburg’s nature museum.

Travel through nature

The museum illustrates Limburg nature, in three permanent exhibitions. The ‘Geology’ exhibition takes you on a journey through time, passing tropical swamps and the ‘Krijtzee’, the Cretaceous sea that engulfed Limburg in the late Cretaceous period when chalk was deposited in the area. The Biology exhibition is all about contemporary nature. This shows South Limburg below the water surface. The Dynamicum covers the effects of mankind and climate.
