Open-air museum de Locht is dedicated to the life of yesteryear in rural northern Limburg. In particular, you will learn about the cultivation of asparagus and mushrooms and the development of modern greenhouse farming.

Come and check it out

Visit the authentic regional-style housebarn and experience what rural life was like between 1850 and 1950. Take a peek into an old-fashioned kitchen, the “best” room with a closet-bed, an opkamer, a basement and the pantry. The Open-air museum de Locht provides a fascinating picture of how people lived and worked in rural areas of the Netherlands from 1850 on. There are also various traditional crafts on display as well as an exhibition hall where temporary exhibitions are held.

Modern Times

Open-air museum de Locht is also about modern times: modern production techniques of asparagus, mushrooms and greenhouse farming. Guided tours and packages are available for groups. Demonstrations of traditional crafts and activities for children are organized on Sundays.
