Unique maritime cultural sailing heritage

The Buffel is a museum ship and unique piece of sailing maritime cultural heritage. After 28 years as an ironclad ram ship for the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Buffel, built in 1868, was renovated and used as a training ship and later an accommodation ship for the Navy staff at Hellevoetsluis.

Decor

The exhibition on board the Buffel focuses on the ship’s 150 years of history. The unique finishings and workmanship of the Buffel fire the imagination and speak to the ship’s unique maritime value. The distinctive decor and extraordinary collection of nautical objects takes visitors back to the former Marine era of Hellevoetsluis.
