Exhibition

This activity has ended.

Museum Beelden aan Zee presents the first solo museum exhibition of Ana Oosting (1985). Oosting is not only an artist but also a neurobiologist. This unique combination defines the essence of her work, as she views the world through the lens of both art and science.

Anna Oosting

Her research-based, site-specific installations invite us to explore non-human perspectives. They have an immersive quality, encouraging viewers to actively engage with the work.

For the museum, Ana Oosting has created a site-specific installation featuring ten large beings that seem to float effortlessly through the air. Through hyper-precise folding techniques, the artist brings these forms to life, embodying the idea that even non-living matter can act, rather than being merely subjected to human will.

In the space, an enchanting seascape unfolds, evoking a sense of familiarity. This is no coincidence. Ana Oosting collaborated with scientists to replicate the wave patterns of the nearby North Sea. Accompanying this is an eerie melody—perhaps reminiscent of a whale's song, the whisper of coastal winds, or the thundering crash of waves against the shore.

Conservator: Louise Bjeldbak Henriksen.
