A city full of stories

In the permanent exhibition Amorfortia, you’ll take a journey through the history of Amersfoort. You’ll learn more about the Miracle of Amersfoort, the important role of beer in the city and the influence of famous Amersfoort artists. Less well-known stories are also covered, such as those of female beer brewers, the city’s queer history and its colonial past.

Fresh eyes

From prehistory to the modern day, you’ll encounter the people and events that have shaped Amersfoort. As a result, you’ll look at the city with fresh eyes even after leaving the museum.

Children

For children, there are fun surprises and activities along the way that encourage them to set off on their own discoveries.

Temporary exhibitions

As well as Amorfortia, there are temporary art and heritage exhibitions on display. These exhibitions explore contemporary themes and personal stories linked to Amersfoort. Be inspired, and then get creative yourself during an activity or workshop in the Maak Mee Atelier.
