Geglazuurd keramiek is doorgaans niet recyclebaar en eindigt meestal op de stortplaats. Yoon stuitte in zijn zoektocht naar een duurzaam alternatief voor het giftige glazuur op een oeroude techniek uit zijn geboorteland, ‘Ott’. Je ziet het in Keramiekmuseum Princessehof.

Design

Dit najaar presenteert Keramiekmuseum Princessehof een designtentoonstelling met werk van Yoon Seok-hyeon (Zuid-Korea, 1992). Het houthars uit de lakboom wordt in Korea traditioneel gebruikt om houten gebruiksvoorwerpen mee te lakken. De Zuid-Koreaanse ontwerper past de techniek (ook wel Ottchil genoemd) toe op keramiek. In zijn solo-expositie Yoon Seok-hyeon: Ott / Another paradigmatic ceramic in het nationale Keramiekmuseum in Leeuwarden laat hij zijn Ott-gelakte kommen, vazen en schotels zien en krijgt de bezoeker een inkijkje in zijn circulaire werkproces.
