In the IJmuider Zee- en Havenmuseum (The Sea and Harbor Museum of IJmuiden), the sea takes center stage. Step inside the wheelhouse of a cargo ship and the sail manufacturer’s workshop and learn everything about the development of IJmuiden.

The IJmuider Zee- en Havenmuseum is located in the old fishing trade school of IJmuiden. Fun and informative for young and old alike.

The origins of the North Sea Canal

The museum shows the history of IJmuiden that starts with digging the North Sea Canal around 1870, followed by the building of the piers and locks.
