Historische Tuin Aalsmeer

Aalsmeer is inextricably connected to flowers and plants. Historical Garden Aalsmeer takes you on a trip through time to learn how this connection came about.

The museum provides an overview of horticulture in Aalsmeer from about 1700 to 1960. Find out more about the history of growing fruit, ornamental shrubs, roses, field flowers and bedding plants. Find out more about how the growing of cut flowers and pot plants in planters and greenhouses started. The Historical Garden Aalsmeer also includes the historic structures used in the region for plant-growing in the past.

Auction clock

The former clock used at ‘Bloemenlust’, Aalsmeer’s former flower auction, was built in the 1930s and is still operating in perfect order in the auction hall at the Historical Garden Aalsmeer. The auctioneer is happy to explain the auction system. And this living horticultural museum also has plenty to discover outside.
