Exhibition

This activity has ended.

What makes you feel at home, and what remains when you are away or when the place you call home is no longer there? And what does domestic happiness actually look like? Heem showcases contemporary works from the collection of the Fries Museum and the Collection of the Netherlands.

Home

Having a home is a primal need and a fundamental human right, even though it is not always guaranteed. The search for it and the creation of it is something universal that connects us all, both humans and animals. Yet, home is not necessarily tied to a physical place. In fact, for people who, for whatever reason, leave this place, home can take on a very different form. Throughout the run of the group exhibition Heem, various artists will reflect on the theme. From the ways we shape the places where we settle and the connection between home and identity, to the disruption that can occur when leaving our place of residence, whether voluntarily or forced.
