De Monopole Schiedam

Eight red block letters

Across the road from the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, an eye-catching building has stood empty for a very long time. Eight red block letters that spelled out the name ‘Monopole’ were removed from the façade decades ago. Yet the building is still known by the name it bore between 1938 and 1968: Monopole.

Monopole

From September 2025, following an eventful history and years of standing empty, the building will finally have a new purpose: Monopole will become a sister venue to the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, where you can experience impressive art.
