The Comenius Museum is dedicated to the life and work of the famous Czech theologist, philosopher and pedagogue Jan Amos Comenius (1592-1670).
The famous Czech academic Jan Amos Comenius (1592-1670) spent the last fourteen years of his life in the Netherlands. The Comenius Museum is dedicated to his life and works.
The permanent exhibition Mundus Comenii (Comenius’ world) offers insights into all aspects of Jan Amos Comenius’ life, his work and the era in which he lived. Learn about the four major themes in his life: Religio, Respublica Litteraria, Scientia et Educatio and Politica. The permanent exhibition is located on the ground floor.
His mausoleum is accessible via the museum. The mausoleum was decorated by Czech artists commissioned by the Czech government during the mid-1930’s.
The museum contains a modest library that has a number of Comenius’ original books and works on his life. The library can be visited by appointment.
