Anna Aagaard Jensen – Hello Darling, Welcome Home.

Until 30 March from 11:00 to 17:00

Exhibition

Hello Darling, Welcome Home.

Aagaard Jensen’s chairs, tables, and lamps are voluptuous, striking, and unconventional. They intentionally take up more space than necessary and command attention in the exhibition rooms.

Anna Aagaard Jensen

With humor and audacity, Aagaard Jensen highlights how feminine forms are often undervalued. These shapes are frequently overlooked in society and and appear far less often in museums. Born in 1990 in Esbjerg, Denmark, Anna Aagaard Jensen creates unique works in the spectrum between art and design. She critically examines our everyday use of objects, exploring how design shapes our behaviour and self-presentation, often reflecting traditional gender roles concerning women and men.

Modern Period Rooms

The oldest part of the Centraal Museum is the 15th-century Agnieten Convent, where nuns once lived. The idea of a female inhabited space inspired Aagaard Jensen’s curatorial process. In the museum's galleries, everyday items such as food, clothing, furniture, and a laid table set the stage for contemporary scenes of life lived. Through her unique perspective, Aagaard Jensen reimagines these elements. Her own artworks are exhibited alongside pieces from Centraal Museum's collection, forming modern period rooms, each with its own ‘hostess’. The artist invites visitors to imagine the stories behind these rooms. Welcome Home, Darling.

Another Story

The Centraal Museum invited Aagaard Jensen to showcase her work alongside selections from its collection. On the second floor, contemporary artists’ ideas and works offer new perspectives on today’s world. Aagaard Jensen’s combinations create unexpected connections and fresh insights, encouraging visitors to think creatively and engage their imaginations.
