Four times Two

Artwork Tajiri as a starting point

The four-knot artwork Four times Two (1967) by Japanese-American artist Shinkichi Tajiri (1923 - 2009) is the reason and starting point for this collection presentation, which covers half a century.

Connection, unity, contradictions

In this exhibition, each room shows work by four artists each: as many as there are buttons in Four times Two. The works are very diverse in terms of period of origin, subject, theme or what they look like. The question is therefore what they have in common. Everyone looks differently, makes different connections, and art shows different and new perspectives over time. The exhibition is mainly an invitation to look for underlying ideas, emotions, messages or symbolism that connects this art, across time and cultural differences, with each other and with us.
