Edam in 14 steps

A journey through time with the Blaeu card

Fellow citizens Chrisje and Kees Brants, together with Leendert de Jonge, have put together this exhibition with care. They have studied the old map of the Amsterdam cartographer Joan Blaeu in detail and brought it to life. The map is greatly enlarged, so you can admire all the houses, churches, bridges, and even the shipyards in the heart of the city. You can see where mills used to be, how salt was extracted, and where the Kaaswaag was originally found.

###14 Steps to the Edam of the past On 14 large panels and via an audio tour (available in Dutch and English) you will learn everything about the growth of Edam from the city rights in 1357, when it only had 40 houses and 160 inhabitants. The audio tour is passionately narrated by Kees and Chrisje Brants, and brings the stories of this historic city to you in a lively way.

An exhibition full of special objects
