Groninger Museum 150 Years – Behind the Scenes offers a unique glimpse behind the scenes of the museum. How is a collection created, how do we conserve artworks, and how do we present them to the public? How was this done in the past, how is it done now, and what does it all involve? This and more can be explored as part of the Groninger Museum's 150th-anniversary celebrations. The exhibition is interactive and invites your creativity. For instance, decide for yourself which frame or lighting best suits a particular artwork.

Vincent van Gogh

In 2020, Vincent van Gogh's Spring Garden was stolen from the Singer Museum in Laren. To much joy, the artwork resurfaced in 2023. After being examined by conservator Marjan de Visser at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Spring Garden is once again on display in Behind the Scenes at the Groninger Museum after years of absence.
