BOLD & GRITTY – Abstract art from public space

Large, larger, largest. On streets, squares, but also hidden from view in abandoned or less beautiful places, abstract painting and spraying happens on a grand scale. Artists flourish outside on the street, because there they experience ultimate freedom.

Impossible

Stedelijk Museum Schiedam and the Rotterdam curator duo Opperclaes attempt to make the impossible possible by bringing that art into the museum after all. Opperclaes, consisting of Bruce Tsai-Meu-Chong and Linda van der Vleuten, takes a selection from the most distinctive and authentic artists from this scene and shows that this work also comes into its own on the museum stage.
